What can you find here?
On this site, data sets will be posted that result from our ophthalmic research. This may include data from visual fields, various imaging modalities (such as fundus photos and optical coherence tomography images) and other data such as intraoculair pressure. These data sets will be made available free of charge to other researchers for the development and evaluation of new methods and instruments
How does it work?
We will provide access to data from our studies through this web site. We will try to describe the data as clearly as possible and provide it to you in a format that is open and easy to use. We do not require any complicated data sharing agreements or claim co-authorship on any of your papers. What we ask in return is that you acknowledge the source of the data in all your publications by citing one of our papers on the specific data set(s) that you use. Usage of the data for commercial purposes is not allowed.
Why do we do this?
Obtaining data from study subjects (patients and normal subjects) costs a lot of time, money and effort. Often, these data are just used for a single study and then archived. Other researchers who are in need of similar data then need to spend a lot of time, money and effort to build a similar data set. We think that this is a significant waste of the limited amount of research-supporting resources. In addition, many researchers, especially those working in a more technical environment, are not affiliated with a medical center and therefore do not have access to this data. By providing such data to them, they can aid in improving the level of health care.
If you have any comments or suggestions for improvements, please let us know. If you would like access to other data, need our experience or support or would like to use the data for other purposes than those allowed by the license agreement that accompanies every data set, feel free to contact us!
